Prof. Andrea F. Abate

Andrea F. Abate received the Laurea degree (cum laude) in Computer Science from the University of Salerno, Italy, in 1991 and the Ph.D. degree in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science from the University of Pisa, Italy, in 1998. He is currently an Associate Professor in Computer Science at the University of Salerno. His research interests include Computer Graphics, Virtual Reality Interaction, Augmented Reality, Haptics, Multimedia Databases and Biometrics.

Silvio Barra

Silvio Barra was born in 1985 and in 2012 he received the Laurea degree (cum laude) in Computer Science from the University of Salerno. his main research interests include: biometrics, iris segmentation and recognition, head detection in uncontrolled conditions, videosurveillance systems and tracking.

Raffaele Bisogno

Raffaele Bisogno was born in Torre Annunziata (Naples) in 1966. He has a degree in Information Science form the University of Salerno and he later obtained an Honour's Degree in Computing. He worked for over 15 years for the company Italdata spa Gruppo Siemens It Solution and Services, an outstanding E-learning centre. His duties involved E-learning consulting and web Design for setting up web portals for the Public Administration and companies. . ...

Prof.ssa Maria De Marsico

Maria De Marsico was born in Salerno, Italy, in 1963. She received the Laurea degree (cum laude) in Computer Science from the University of Salerno, Italy, in 1988. She is currently an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at Sapienza University of Rome. Her main research interests include: Image processing, Multibiometric systems, Human-Computer Interaction. Maria De Marsico is a member of IEEE, ACM and IAPR.

Chiara Galdi

Chiara Galdi was born in 1988. She received the Laurea degree (cum laude) in Computer Science from the University of Salerno, Italy, in 2012. Her main research interests include: biometrics, iris recognition under uncontrolled conditions.

Fabio Narducci

Fabio Narducci was born in Caserta, Italy, in 1985. He received the Laurea degree (cum laude) in Computer Science from the University of Salerno, in 2006 and the Ph.D. degree in Computer Science at the Virtual Reality Lab (VRLab) of the University of Salerno, in 2015. His phd research study was funded by Selex Electronic Systems (an international company of Finmeccanica Group, leader in electronic and information technologies for aerospace defence systems and land security). His research interests include augmented reality and virtual environments, mobile and wearable computing, human computer interaction, haptics, gesture recognition and biometrics. He is member of GIRPR.

Prof. Michele Nappi ( Head )

Michele Nappi was born in Castellammare di Stabia, Italy, in 1965. He received the Laurea degree (cum laude) in Computer Science from the University of Salerno, Salerno, Italy, in 1991, the M.Sc. degree in Information and Communication Technology from I.I.A.S.S. "E.R. Caianiello," Vietri sul Mare, Salerno, in 1997, and the Ph.D. degree in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science from the University of Padova, Padova, Italy, in 1997. He is currently an Associate Professor of Computer Science at the University of Salerno. His research interests include Pattern Recognition, Image Processing, Image Compression and Indexing, Multimedia Databases and Biometrics. Dr. Nappi is a member of IAPR and IEEE.

Stefano Ricciardi

Stefano Ricciardi received the degree in Computer Science and the degree in Informatics from the University of Salerno. He has been co-founder/owner of a videogame development company focused on 3D sports simulations. He is currently a researcher at the University of Salerno. Teaching experiences include courses on basic and advanced programming for the laurea degree in Informatics, Biotechnology and Geology as well as Master classes on computer generated images applied to visual design for the laurea degree in Architecture. His main research interests includes virtual and augmented reality, biometry, haptics systems and human-computer interaction. He is author of about forty research papers including international journals, book chapters and conference proceedings.

Daniel Riccio

Daniel Riccio was born in Cambridge, United Kingdom, in 1978. He received the laurea degree (cum laude) and the Ph.D. in computer science from the University of Salerno in 2002 and 2006. He is currently an Assistant Professor at the University of Salerno. His research interests include biometrics, fractal image compression and indexing. He is a member of GIRPR since 2004.

Mario Savastano

Mario Savastano is part of the National Research Council of Italy and currently positioned as Senior Researcher at the Institute of Bio-structures and Bio-images of Napoli. Mr. Savastano’s previous positions include a member of the ad-hoc group on Performance and Testing of Biometrics of the Biometric Consortium, in addition to Convenor of the ISO/IEC TC1 SC 37 and WG 6. Mr. Savastano was responsible for the work-package on the medical implications of biometrics in the EC funded project “BIOVISION” and is involved in two new EC projects on the diffusion of standards on identity management in health care contexts and on the next generation of identity documents based on tri-dimensions face images. ...

Prof.ssa Genny Tortora

Genny Tortora is a full professor in Computer Science, at the University of Salerno.From 2000 to 2008, she was Dean of the Faculty of Mathematical, Natural and Physical Sciences, at the University of Salerno. Her interests fall into the Software Engineering and Information Systems areas. In particular they include software-development environments, visual languages, geographical information systems and pictorial information systems. She is author and co-author of several papers published in scientific journals or proceedings of refereed conferences, and is co-editor of three books.
